Simple case of cracked/damaged screen. Motorola have a nice utility provided directly from the apps menu where you can test the device hardware (except the fingerprint sensor which can be manually tested), after checking all other parts in full working order, a matter of delicately disassembly, ensuring the finger print sensor is not damaged in the process.
This was originally planned to simply replace the screen included with a new housing frame however the shortest wait times for this was in the weeks so customer opted to go with just a screen replacement which turned out perfectly, while keeping the original housing which may be better for signal purposes anyway.
